Sustainability
Sustainability is an integral part of the history and culture of Eni.
It is the driving force for a process of continuous improvement and cuts across all areas of the company, guaranteeing the Sustainability of results over time and strengthening the process of development and valorisation.
Sustainability also contributes to the management of business risk, performance improvements and strengthens the company’s reputation and intangible assets.
The Company sets its commitment towards sustainable development by:
- Considering the growing complexity of energy, social and economic international scenarios;
- Listening to its stakeholders who hold a number of expectations;
- Taking into account the contexts where it operates, in a constant dialogue between local and global issues;
- Managing issues which are deeply interconnected: every issue concerning the environment also concerns people, every technological innovation has an impact on the quality of life and on the community, every economic decision taken has to be examined for its effects on environment and society.
Tigáz Group decided to introduce an integrated system that will be in compliance with system requirements of MSZ EN ISO 9001:2009, MSZ EN ISO 14001:2005 and MSZ 28001:2008 (BS OHSAS 18001:2007) during 2010-2013.
There are also some environment protection projects and initiatives in order to reduce harmful atmospheric emission in TIGÁZ Group:
- methane-detection project (due to pipeline leak), pressure regulator distant monitoring project;
- building modernisation projects aiming to reduce CO2 emission: building reconstruction, heating modernisation projects (decreasing energy consumption, decreasing atmospheric pollution);
- motor vehicle modernisation, rationalisation of company car usage (reducing fuel consumption and emission);
- introduction of a labour management system (work instructions given through electronic means in the course of gas network operation, planned and scheduled implementation, reducing the fuel consumption, time saving, reducing emission).

Green signal
- Under the (3) paragraph of Article 64 of Act No. LIII. of 1996 on Nature Conservation, “the 10th of May of every year shall be the Day of Trees and Birds. The commemoration and programs held on that day shall serve to increase the commitment of the citizens - first of all the youth - to nature conservation.” Many events and programs are being held throughout the country on the occasion of that day.
- In 2010 MME/BirdLife Hungary has elected three swallow species breeds in Hungary – the barn swallow, the common House Martin and the blank swallow -, the Bird(s) of the Year.
- Silver Lime /Linden – or Silver Linden -, a tall, regular-shaped tree was elected the Tree of the Year.
